This oil painting shows West of Ireland rural landscape on a sunny day. The place portrayed is located at the deserted village on the in Achill Island in Co. Mayo. There is a traditional long hair western Irish sheep on the green hills. I took the photograph of the area during our holidays in the west of Ireland a couple of years ago. The area was so remote and quiet. It seemed to me that I stepped back in time into Ireland of a few hundred years ago! The piece is completed with a painting knife in impasto technique, with lots of expression and gesture.
